Flight "In" and "To" Indonesia

As Indonesia divided into many island, the best way for traveling is by air or by the sea. This article will talk about traveling by air.

Because Indonesia separated from the Asia and European continent main island, the easiest way to come to Indonesia is by flight. There are so many flight in Indonesia from the high service until the standard service and from the normal airlines until the low cost airline. Here are the list of airline that fly "in" and "to" Indonesia.


Garuda Indonesia 

As Garuda Indonesia is a flag carrier of Indonesia, this airlines have the best service and in 2015, they become a Five Stars Airline from Skytrax. Garuda Indonesia fly directly to many countries in Asia, Oceania (Australia), Europe (Netherlands and UK). As Garuda Indonesia join with the Skyteam Alliance, their routes become more wider to America and Africa continent too.

Garuda Indonesia also fly to the main big island in Indonesia such as Java, Sumatra, Borneo, Sulawesi, Moluccas and Papua. Garuda Indonesia also fly to small island such as Bali, Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara and East Nusa Tenggara. As a full service airlines, Garuda Indonesia have a subsidiary low cost airline name Citilink.

Lion Air

Lion air have wider routes in Indonesia comparing to the other airlines in Indonesia, because they have a subsidiary airline to help connecting the routes. The subsidiary airlines of Lion Air is Wings Air for connecting to small airport and Batik Air, the full service airlines.

Lion Air also have international routes such as Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Saudi Arabia. For international routes, Lion Air have a subsidiary airlines too such as Malindo Air in Malaysia and Thai Lion Air in Thailand. With Lion Air subsidiary airlines, they have more international routes such as Philippines, Vietnam, Australia, Hong Kong, Bangladesh and India.

Sriwijaya Air

Sriwijaya Air is the third largest airline in Indonesia. Sriwijaya Air is different than the other airline, because they focused on domestic routes first, rather than international routes. As a medium service airlines, Sriwijaya Air may give better service than the other low cost airline, with a cheap price also. For supporting domestic routes, Sriwijaya Air have a subsidiary airline called Nam Air, which have routes to small city in Indonesia.

Sriwijaya Air also have international routes. The only international routes that Sriwijaya Air have is to Dili, Timor Leste right now.

AirAsia Indonesia


AirAsia Indonesia is a subsidiary airline from AirAsia Malaysia. AirAsia Indonesia is a low cost airlines that try to connected a big cities in Indonesia. As the best low cost airlines from Skytrax, AirAsia might be a great choice for backpacker to travel a big cities in Indonesia.

AirAsia Indonesia also serve international routes to Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Australia. For Australia, AirAsia Indonesia have a subsidiary airline called AirAsia Indonesia X. Indonesia Entry Requirements

Before entering Indonesia, tourist must agree with the entry rules

  1. Tourist must have a valid passport at least 6 months before the expiration date
  2. Tourist must have return or through ticket
  3.  Tourist must check visa requirement based on each nationality
  4. Maximum stay 30 days and if need longer stay, tourist must have a permit from Indonesia embassy
